Reichard: $34,000 in Grants Awarded for Local History Preservation

• WAYNESBORO – Three Franklin County museums will receive $34,000 in state funding through the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission Cultural and Historical Support Grant Program, Rep. Chad Reichard (R-Franklin) announced. 
  
  The Franklin County Historical Society and Renfrew Museum and Park each received $9,500 while the Conococheague Institute received $15,000.
  
  “Franklin County has a tremendous history, and we are fortunate to have organizations and volunteers who work every day to preserve and share it with the next generation. These grants will help our local museums continue that important work,” Reichard said.  “I’m pleased to see this funding come back to Franklin County and support the organizations that help keep our local history alive.”
  
  The Conococheague Institute will use its grant for its paid student internship program. The program has provided experience and career growth for 18 students, many of whom have gone on to have full-time positions in their field since 2022. The Franklin County Historical Society will use its funding for general operating expenses. Renfrew Museum and Park will use its grant to improve its communications infrastructure and collection management capabilities by expanding its Wi-Fi footprint to cover additional park buildings and to buy equipment, including new laptops and tablets.
  
  The purpose of the grant program is to provide general operating support to Pennsylvania
  museums and official county historical societies that are not directly supported by other state agency operating support programs.
