Reichard to Host Workshop on Protecting Residents From Scams

WAYNESBORO – With scammers constantly finding new ways to deceive and defraud victims, Rep. Chad Reichard (R-Franklin) is inviting area residents to a free workshop designed to help them recognize and avoid scams.

Reichard is partnering with Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday’s office to host the event Friday, Aug. 28, at 10 a.m. in the Hess Room at Quincy Village, 6596 Orphanage Road, Waynesboro.

“Scammers are always looking for new ways to trick people, and advances in technology, including artificial intelligence, are giving them even more tools,” Reichard said. “This workshop will provide residents with information they can use to spot scams before they become victims. Knowing what to look for can make all the difference.”

A representative from the Office of Attorney General will explain how scammers are using new technology and evolving their tactics to target victims. The presentation will cover common warning signs, including efforts to create a false sense of trust or urgency, as well as ways AI is being used to make scams more convincing.

Participants also will receive practical tips for protecting their personal information, financial accounts and other sensitive information.

“Taking a few minutes to learn how these scams work could save someone from a major financial or personal loss,” Reichard said. “I hope residents will take advantage of this opportunity to become better informed and better prepared.”
